Stacking tanks

Postby strange » Sat Dec 31, 2016 10:58 am

Has anyone ever stacked 75s or more on the normal metal stands we get from fish shops? Considering stacking a 90 and a 75.. any thoughts, tips, photos of your currently doing it.

I've never stacked a 90 over a 75. I do have a 65 over a 40 on a knockdown metal stand. Stand can sway side to side when getting in the tanks to clean.

My AGA 40 was new when this was set up Dec 2009. It just started leaking from the bottom on Dec 20. Its drained and at work waiting replacement. Don't know if that was due to the stand or what. The first post shows photo's of some of the stand. viewtopic.php?f=56&t=13940

It could be done if you had a customized metal stand built. Problem is it is going to be a pain in the ass to work in the top aquarium. Even if the first level of the stand is two inches off the ground, the 75 is approximately 22 inches tall, eight inches minimum working space between tanks, an inch for the next level of the stand, and another approximately 26 inches for the 90, the top tank is just about 5 feet off the ground. Any rocks, driftwood, or other decorations for the bottom tank over 8 inches would have to be placed in the stand beforehand.
